Hi Rich Fans,
This Mailing List has already gone through the process of wondering why the songs on Songs made it on there. We've also already made our choices on what songs we believe should have been on there. There are several links to these subjects starting with [RichMailList 62]: Pick your top 20 Rich songs. Apparently there are some on the newsgroup rec.music.christian that are going through this process now. Anyway, thanks to Brendt Waters for alerting me to a very interesting response to that thread.

Some of this is kinda out of context (unless you go back and read the preceeding posts), but the news toward the end is the good stuff.... If you want to go back and read the whole string of posts, the subject line was "rich mullins' _songs_ ... and we want better ones!" ttfn, Brendt ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- From: Mark Robertson Newsgroups: rec.music.christian Subject: Re: rich mullins' _songs_...and we want better ones! Date: 3 Dec 1996 10:36:18 GMT Organization: AOL http://www.aol.com Let's see... First off, Rich had very little say about which songs were selected for the _songs_ record. "We're Not As Strong" is great, but I know he didn't like the remake of "Elijah." If you're gonna blame anyone, blame the producer. Second, though some fans disagree, "Brother's Keeper" was precisely the record that Rich wanted to make. He was sick of the big slick production and wanted something more intimate. I think "The Breaks," "Brother's Keeper," "Quoting Duet.," and "Wounds Of Love" are among his best songs ever. My personal faves include: CREED JACOB AND TWO WOMEN PEACE SOMEWHERE HOLD ME JESUS THE COLOR GREEN THE BREAKS WE'RE NOT AS STRONG BOY LIKE ME, MAN LIKE YOU ELIJAH CALLING OUT YOUR NAME We're gonna do another farewell tour starting May '97! Rich also has a new record in the can...it's a musical, and it's unreal. There's also plans for another Ragamuffin record, and possibly a live record. -Mark (bass player for the Ragamuffin band)
