Hi Rich Fans,
With the January 31st Wichita date effectively sold out (there are less than 50 tickets left in a concert hall that holds 2000), they have now announced a second evening on February 1st, Saturday. Here are the details I've posted to the Rich Tour List.
01/31 Wichita, KS (Rich and the Ragamuffins) & 2/1 Century II Concert Hall, 7:30pm both evenings, reserved seats There are still just a few tickets left for Friday night (less than 50) Tickets for second evening are 13.50 and go on sale December 7, 1996 at the Central Ticket Agency (opens 9am - noon on Saturday, otherwise 9am - 4pm Mon-Fri) and by phone starting at 8am, 316-263-4717 Tickets are also available from the Better Book Room, Saturday (open 9am), however they add a one dollar surcharge, making the tickets 14.50. The concerts (expected to be the same both evenings) will be in two parts; half will be a Rich and Ragamuffins concert and half will be an abbreviated concert style presentation of Rich's new musical "Canticle of the Plains". 20 The Countdown Magazine , A Communion Communications production, broadcasted their top 100 songs of the last ten years on Thanksgiving Day. No big surprise, Rich took the top spot with "Awesome God." Here's how Rich faired in the list...
1 Rich Mullins Awesome God 16 Rich Mullins Sometimes By Step 25 Rich Mullins Hold Me Jesus 37 Rich Mullins If I Stand 88 Rich Mullins CreedAmy Grant also had 5 songs on the list, and five others had more. (Michael W. Smith - 10; Steven Curtis Chapman - 8; 4-Him, Twila Paris, and Wayne Watson all had 6).
See [RichMailList 64] for the mailing list ranking last May, and also Light 99 FM's Top 99 Songs Of All Time (where "Awesome God" also took the top spot).
I asked Bob Michael's, Light 99 Program Director, how they compiled the list. He told me, "the list covers the past 10 years, the same time that '20' has been on the air. The weekly show 20 is comprised of playlists from leading radio stations all over N.A., and thus the 10-year deal was made by taking those 10 years worth of charts and assigning points for how well each song did. That list of about 200 finalists were then played for focus research groups to see if they are still as popular as they were then, and the top 100 of that research made the show."
