Last weekend (Sept.21) when Rich Mullins sang at Taylor University, I thought
I heard him say the teaching job on the reservation had fallen through. More
than that he did not say. I thought you might like to be updated on this to
confirm it.

BTW, the concert was fantastic, lived up to all my hopes and expectations.
One never knows how the artist/performer feels about it, but it was entirely
consistent with what I had heard on the CD's. I thank God for writers like
Rich Mullins.

...along the same line, Faber McMullen writes: Date: Thu, 03 Oct 1996 19:49:53 Subject: Mail List Please add me to your mailing list. I enjoy Rich's music ( especially the celticness of it ) and would like to hear whatever chit-chat that goes on about him.. I've heard so many rumors about him giving up his singing ministry, etc. and it spending time with the indians. It would be nice to know what there is to all of it. Thanks, D.S.

In response to both of these posts, let me just say that the teaching job has not "fallen through" necessarily, but Rich's involvement with teaching the Navajo Indians has transformed into a different direction. I don't want to say anymore, because I don't have all the details, but let it suffice to say that, judging by his increasing tour load, Rich apparently has more time to tour than he originally planned.

That's right, Elizabeth, I almost forgot. Rich's birthday is Monday, October 21st. I can't speak for Rich (or for other RichMailList members in our age group), but 41 was pretty anti-climatic for me, and much tougher than 40. Anyway, if you want to write Rich, and wish him a Happy 41st Birthday, here's the address to reach him.

Mendy Pete contacted Brian William (webmaster for the Rich Mullins Web Page), and informed him and now us about another new date for Rich right here in Kansas. This one is just up the Turnpike from Wichita in Emporia, KS at the Flint Hills Christian Church, at 7:30pm. There is a $5 donation at the door. I hope to make this concert (my first since last December, see [RichMailList 53]: Rich Christmas Concert), and maybe even visit with Rich, for some up-to-date info on what he's up to. I certainly will give him a warm greeting from all of us if I get the chance. I've added this date to the Tour Page.

There is also a correction to the Gainesville, FL phone number, thanks to Lara Schroeder. It is 352-378-5190 (instead of 352-378-5290).

On a side note, the Rich Mullins Mailing List recently passed the 150 member mark. This is overwhelming to me, considering it started a little more than a year and a half ago, and remained under 30 Rich fans for months. We have almost doubled in size just since last May. I just wanted to send a word of thanks to all of you for all the encouragement and prayers I've received. I humbly want to say, please love the Lord first with all your heart, strength, and mind, you're family (personal and church) next, and yourself last. Then and only then, will you know J.O.Y. (Jesus, Others, Yourself). Pray continually, and ask God to show you how to love Him more and those around you. God Bless you all.
