Jesus Fest 98 and The Legacy Kickoff
August 30, 1998

Central Christian Church in Wichita, KS has for the past three years held an annual combined outdoor worship service on their church grounds. Now with growth that has necessitated five Sunday morning services, and another building project, they will be moving their 4th annual Jesus Fest to Cessna Stadium at Wichita State University. (Nearly 1,000 people attended the ceremony Sunday, July 19th, as Central Christian celebrated the "groundbreaking" on a new worship center.) In addition to moving and expanding the festival, the big news this year is the announcement of the national kickoff for The Legacy of a Kid Brother of St Frank, a foundation formed early this year to continue Rich's work and ministry.

Jesus Fest 98 will be an all day event, Sunday, August 30, beginning at 9:30am with a spectacular worship service, accompanied by CCC's fantastic Celebration Choir and Orchestra. Wear cool clothes because after the service is the annual church picnic. Food vendors will be on hand to provide a great variety of meals and snacks, or you may wish to bring a sack lunch. Spend the afternoon relaxing and enjoying fellowship, or if relaxing isn't your game, there will also be a whole carnival, complete with amusement rides. The morning/afternoon part of the festival is free but be sure to bring extra cash for food vendors and amusements rides.

At 2pm, they'll clear the stadium to prepare for the festival finale, and reopen the gates at 5pm for the Legacy Kickoff and Fund Raiser, which is at 6pm. Gary Chapman is scheduled to headline the evening's festivities. Also scheduled to perform is the Ragamuffin Band, Wayne Kirkpatrick (a very rare appearance for him), Mitch McVicker and the Kid Brothers, and This Train. Though the Ragamuffins will be performing songs from The Jesus Record, this is not considered part of their upcoming tour (more news on that later).

Tickets for The Legacy Kickoff will go on sale July 30th and be available at Central Christian, local Christian bookstores, or direct from Broomtree Productions by calling local Wichita 686-3091, or toll-free 800-583-1901. Tickets purchased directly from Broomtree by phone and credit card, especially for those out of town, may be ordered immediately (don't need to wait til July 30).
