Hi Rich Fans,
Brennan Manning is an extremely dynamic speaker whom I've had the opportunity to hear many times here in Wichita years ago. He used to come to Wichita every year for a weeks worth of several different seminars. At more than one of those seminars, I would notice Rich in attendance, which didn't really surprise me. Except for Billy Graham, I've never been so moved and inspired by any man. Manning has been sought by many CCM artists for council, and is in fact included on the DC Talk album, Jesus Freak just before the beginning of "What If I Stumble". If you enjoy the wisdom of Rich Mullins, you'll really enjoy Brennan Manning and any of his books. Some of them are "The Signature Of Jesus", "Lion and Lamb: The Relentless Tenderness of Jesus", "The Ragamuffin Gospel", and "Abba's Child: The Cry of the Heart for Intimate Belonging".

I pray for you and I hope the other 300+ people on the list do, too. I will be one of the people who benefit from you transcribing the interviews from the Canticle premiere. I had my RealAudio tested out and ready to go, but ended up having to be somewhere else during the premiere. I ordered 2nd row tickets this weekend for the Wheaton, IL concert on April 18 so I'll get to hear it then. A semi-interesting piece of news. Two weeks ago Brennan Manning spoke in chapel for two days at the university where I work. He was really well-received. I don't think anyone breathed or blinked while he talked! I had read The Ragamuffin Gospel a couple years back when it was recommended in the liner notes of Rich's Liturgy, Legacy, and a Ragamuffin Band, so I already knew Brennan had a wonderful message. And the book did a whole lot to help me open myself up to a larger understanding of God's love. If anyone on the mailing list hasn't read it, I'd recommend it and Brennan's other books as well. The pianist at the chapel service played "The Love of God" at the end of Brennan's message the first day and I asked him where he got the music since I play the piano, too. Come to find out he's a Rich Mullins fan and learned it from listening to the album. Also come to find out he was going to the Indy concert that night. He teaches my son piano and told him how much he enjoys Rich's concerts, so Alex is looking forward to seeing him in April. I just thought that was cool. That's all. Thanks again! As Brennan's old Gramma always said, "May your karma run over your dogma!" Gina

The "Canticle Of The Plains" has also been added as a separate event. At this point, it looks like Rich will be on the main stage one night and the Canticle in the Gallery on another night but it is early yet and the stages aren't definite yet.
In reference to the tribute album mentioned in the previous post [RichMailList 107], Bob Michaels forwards this info.

A tribute album is now being talked about again, as This Train has joined Third Day in wanting to do it. It would have a modern/alternative feel as most of those interested in contributing are form that genre'. A new group coming out next month called Caedmon's Call (Houston) also does a cover of Hope To Carry On on their debut record. They are very popular among the college crowd, where they have been touring the past 3-4 years, selling over 25,000 copies of their indie! At any rate they are intersted in joining the tribute record as well. Just think how many artists would WANT to if given the opportunity! I think it'll happen in time, but it will be in time...... :) Bob
